Is anyone going to this event later this week?

I'm wondering what to take in the way of camera and kit. The ticket says that "media" equipment is not permitted but that's not much help. Website is of no use either.

I recall going to a Diamond Jubilee bash and being told that "professional" camera equipment was not allowed. So I left my DSLR at home and took a small travel-zoom compact only to find that various people had brought along DSLRs with longish lenses.

Any views on what I'm likely to get away with? Thinking of taking my D7000 and 70-300mm.

I'm going tomorrow and Friday been looking for info on the same subject and not really found it !! I'd decided just to take eos m and enjoy the show more than go for
Photography ...then I think we'll maybe I should take dslr !!
I've just had an email earlier today that today's show was cancelled due to flooding ,hope it's all ok by tomorrow!!

Hi Ron,
Just had an email from Windsor show organisation saying its on tomorrow, we are going to the night event tomorrow and the day show on Friday, when are you going ? I've pretty much decided just to take the eos m but will keep an eye out at the night do to see if anyone else has slr and lenses and let you know if it's any help.

Enjoy yourselves Liz. We have tickets for the Friday evening event. I think the problem seemed today seemed to be the car parking areas being flooded. Hopefully all will be well tomorrow.

Absolutely fab evening show , started 8.15 was after 11pm finishing , saw a few with slr's or the bigger compacts.. Some brill shots to be had .. Take warm clothing it gets cold .. Hope u enjoy it .

I just emailed the event organisers and got an automated reply that contained the following:

You are able to take Photographs for personal use, but please do not use a camera with a lens over 200mm as this can disrupt other visitors.

Hope this helps.

Hey no problems. You might be able to sneak that 70-300mm in , its smaller in size than my Canon 70-200mm!

I only found this forum by googling for the same info, but have now joined (so I could answer your question) and am having a nose about the forums now :)

I'll probably just take my 18-200mm. It's smaller though not so sharp and if anyone doing bag searches gets snotty I can point to the fact that it's got the focal length written on the lens. On a crop sensor it's got reasonable reach too.

I think parking the car might be my biggest problem. :-$

I live in Windsor, the parking setup for the show seemed to be ok last night, busy , but doable - parking is on The Home Park, just opposite the entrance to the show . Parking in Windsor is cr@ppy at the best of times so if that's a bun fight you're in trouble.
{If I was in your shoes, I would email info@hmq90.co.uk with your question again, just so that you have their out-of-office containing their official stance on photography (that I posted above). So that you can show it to the door security if they get shirty}

Which evening are you attending?

I'm going Sunday, so let me know how you get on taking your gear in tonight! Have a great evening.

No problem with gear took my D7000 and 18-200 plus a little travel zoom which I hardly used.

Wrap up warm as it was freezing. I'm still thawing out.

Exiting the venue took ages

Quite enjoyable though.
