Hi guys I need to put some more ram into my pc.

I have 4g at the moment but need more as my programs keep closing or runnng slow.

I have just taken this out.... "pc2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 256MX64 2gb"


Any help would be great

How many slots do you have? I presume there were two sticks of ram? What operating system are you using?

Yes two slots . Running windows 7.;)
 
are you running win 7 64 bit?
 
Put the ram back in, power up and go to one of the memory supplier sites like crucial or mrmemory and let it detect what you have and what options exist for you to upgrade ... simples :)
 
yes mate,if you are running win 7 32bit i think the most you can use is 4 gb,you will need to upgrade to win 7 64 bit for windows to access more ram.

Wanted to add more than the 4GB ram I already have in my Win7 64 bit, unfortunately my Asus P5L-VM 1394 mainboard which is a few years old now won't support more than 4 gb according to the specs. Maybe something else you might need to consider too.

I guess it's time I got a new mobo.
