Hiya everyone, how refreshing to find a friendly forum on the net. I have been searching for some time now to get advice on this and that and at last I stumbled across TP. I have been looking for reviews or tips on what lens to get for my Pentax K10D. I currently only have a 18-55mm and thats fine for people/groups or scenic pics but I love to shoot wildlife and of course the 18-55 just doesn't get me close enough. I won my Pentax in a photo comp using my Lumix. My Lumix has up to a 12x optical & 48x digital zoom built in. Of course I was spoilt with the Lumix lens, the quality was never that good zoomed right in on the Kestrels hovering above me but at least I could zoom in. So I now search for a lens that can get me in close with the wildlife but won't break the bank. Any ideas guys? I do hope this post is not to overwhelming for a newby?

Opps!! After reading other newbys hellos I realise I should have not tried to pick peoples brains so early on, I should have just said Hello and saved my questions for a different thread. Please forgive me and "Hello"

No need to apologise Sammy.
You can ask away on here. Unfortunately I ain't qualified to answer your questions, but welcome anyway .

welcome to TP :D

As for a decent close up wildlife lens - you need to look at the Sigma 150 - 500mm
