I am looking to hire a lens for the British grand Prix but being all new to it i dont have a clue where to start

Ive been given a site called lensesforhire.co.uk

How does this work. Is it a simple as you want the lens you want pay the cost they post it to you and you post it back??

Im sorry if that sounds abit silly but it seems to easy

I have hired from these people in the past and it is really straight forward. Tell them the lens you want and when you want it, then use it and mail it back to them. If its a lens you have not used before, I'd suggest getting it a day or two earlier so you have time to practice with it. Also the British GP is a popular event for togs, so I'd get my order in sooner rather than later.

Togs???? Thank for you help now trying to work out what lens is going to be best Still seems to easy for me :) but nevermind

Pho ,TOG, rapher. Just short for photographer

I used lensesforhire.co.uk last year and the service was second to none and would certainly think about using them again if the case arose.

You'll want something long and fast ideally, with a long end of at least 300mm, depending on where your seats are. I've not used any of the high end Canon glass so can't give any personal recommendations on them, but if you ask in the Motorsport forum you'll definitely get some good advice there :)

Ahhh cool, never thought of doiing that, good way of trying out lenses before you buy!

Thanks guys for the sites and recommendations

I hired a 100-400 from Lensforhire when I went to the Valencia MotoGP for the first time. It served two purposes. Firstly it allowed me to get some awesome shots that I wouldn't have otherwise been able to, given my lens line up at the time. Secondly, it allowed me a full weekend use of a lens that I was considering purchasing, and helped me in the decision making process of whether to actually one (yes I did.)

p.s. The service from Lensforhire was excellent.

I have my order in for the 100-400 for using at Cosford Air Show. Trouble is I know after using it and sending it back to Lensesforhire I will want one....Need to find a cheaper hobby!

But at least you'll know if you actually like and can use something in a real situation - the Classifieds are stuffed full of people who've bought something because they thought they wanted it, then found they didn't really use it or it was inappropriate in some way :D
