Hip Arthoscopy/severe labral tear

november 2011 after waiting 10 months for the hip arthoscopy i finally got to have my 'minor procedure'.on waking later that day i was told all went well and loads of cartlidge had been trimmed up and 2 bone spurs had been removed,i should be up and about within a few weeks.
11 weeks on and im in utter agony most of my waking day.im having constant muscle spasms/cramps,when i stand i set them off,when i try to walk on sticks i set them off and no amount of medication is helping.i finally got to see a nhs phisio last week and after examination he said nothing he could do to help me at this time and he would book me back in once ive had some steroid injections in my hip in 3 weeks time.so another 3 weeks of agonising pains before i get some rest.im far worse than before the procedure and now completely unable to work.

and i thought this procedure was meant to make me better.

have you had this procedure and how did it go

My sympathy.
My wife has had a total knee replacement 9 months ago and cannot sleep more than 2 hours a night. We have tried many different pain killers / sleeping pills all of which cause more trouble than not using them. At the moment she is suffering cold turkey coming off tramadol. She goes back to the hospital in three months so we will see what they say. They say you will get through it but they don't say when. Sorry I have not been able to help but there are alot of people out there suffering. Try a Google search there are many forums out there. Good luck with your problem

haven't had a hip one but had approx 15ish knee ones some good some not so, I go through periods of extreme discomfort muscle spasms etc etc, I must confess I have learnt to live with it, I have been like this for 28 years, been told I need a knee replacement but am to young by about 20 years.

strangley I can only sit on the left side of the sofa as the other end caused immense amounts of pain. word but true.lol
