highest usable ISO on D700?

Been taking some indoor show jumping pics on my D300s, and even using 1600 ISO and the sigma 70 - 200 f2.8 the shutter speed of 1/160th or 200th just wasnt fast enough.

The D90 /300s I know has a practical limit of 1600 ISO when I can still get a decent A4 print. Can anyone advise what is the highest usable ISO on a D700?

Quoted for truth. Just get the exposure right. A4 prints perfectly acceptable.

6400 no problem ... just get the exposure nailed at the time of capture

Like above i have tried 6400 but i like to keep to 3200 and anything above i think about a black and white conversion or some noise reduction.

hi dave, i would say iso 12800 is about the same as the d300 at iso 6400.
i would say above iso 6400 is fine if you dont crop to much,
heres some iso tests i done, just 2 energy saving light bulbs (11w) at 11ish at night.

agreed with this. sometimes if one messed up with the exposure, even on 1600 ISO the shot will look like crap.
