High mag macro on Nikon

Hi all,

Just wondering what sort of a setup is required on Nikon - back on Canon I had the MP-E65mm, but as Nikon doesn't have that any idea what we're looking at?

My guess (and I'll have a play with my kit later hopefully) would be a normal macro lens (Tamron 90mm macro) + Raynox DCR-250 + flash (and a big old bit of tracing paper for a diffuser) - my main body is full frame but I gave the kids a crop, maybe better for macro?

I have been watching some of the vids of Thomas Shahan (link) and his stuff looks great and just where I'm looking to head.

Anyway curious as to what you guys use.

Well, the answer to my previous setup was a bust (Tamron 90mm macro + DCR-250) its nowhere near close enough.

Perhaps some tubes are in order or a reversing ring.

I believe Thomas' rig, or at least used to be, an old manual lens used on a reversal adaptor either with or without a set of bellows.
