I've been milling around online looking for different ways to get that high-key light effect and they all involve using at least 2 lights. I was on eBay looking at some of the kits, but as with most bits of specialist equipment you ever buy, if it looks way cheaper than you expected chances are you're going to get a bit of a donkey.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas of how to create that nice clean looking image without using the speedlights/softboxes etc? Someone said that I could get away with it using reflectors but unless there is sun beaming in through a window I don't see how it would be possible.

Cheers for any ideas you might have!

Pick up something like a Yongnuo YN-460, you can pick them up fantastically cheap (saw a pair go for about £20 for both recently I think). Bounce them off a wall or ceiling.

It's very hard to do nicely without more than one light or at least one off camera flash, to be honest, as a lot of high-key portraiture is made by the eyes which need catchlights.
