Lee or Singh-Ray...not that I know of anywhere that sources the latter to the UK, unless someone here does? anyone use them? some of their filters look interesting, especially the blue-gold polariser
I've got some nd's but they're a set for £30-40 jobbies that, whilst good, could be better and I suspect a move up the scale would mean the quality from the L lenses I use will be maintained rather than diminished through 'cheaper' filters. unless my logic is way off. discuss(!).
 
I tend to agree, buy the best you can afford and deffinately don't be putting cheap filters on quality lenses. I've stopped using a UV filter even on my sigma 17-70 as the mid range Hoya I was using definately had a negative imact on the image quality.

Sadly I'm not rch so my grads are Kood an not lee!
 
Lee filters are in my opinion superb. They cost, but the quality is excellent.

I bought them in the UK - cant remember where from I'm afraid, but I googled it and found a few dealers then picked one with stock available.
 
yeah, lee's are fairly readily available in the uk. just curious about the singh-ray ones, seem us/canada only though...
 
I've got a couple of Singh-Ray "Galen Rowell" ND Grads.

I'd had problems with Lee ND Grads (colour cast!) so decided to go with the best. They've been very good - 99% neutral.

They do cost, but the exchange rate is still good, I think.

I've got some Lee slot in filters, but im going to sell them soon as I now exclusively use B&W screw in filters. For the amount of time I use ND grads, it makes more sense for me to do exposure blending and not carry my Lee kit.
 
yeah have had a set of the hi-techs for 'quite some time'...:coat:
they're ok but you can definitely tell with close up inspection you're losing some sharpness
