High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

Another of those wide v zoom shots.

(NB - I somehow managed to change the settings from RAW to JPEGS on about the second day of out hols, so most pics from this holiday were not able to be processed in the same way as in the past.

Wide pano made from 3 shots IIRC.

Sustipan Park

Sustipan is a small peninsula at the southeastern tip of Split’s port. It is named after a church dedicated to St Stephen the Protomartyr that originally dated to the Late Antique period. Later on, in the early Middle Ages, Benedictines were given the peninsula, after which they had built a monastery known as St Stephen Under the Pine Trees. The monastery which was one of the most important ecclesiastical institutions in the time of the Croatian Kingdom, was abandoned in the fourteenth century. It remained disused until 1832 when the area was transformed into the first communal cemetery of Split. Following World War 2, the Sustipan Cemetery was destroyed and the communal cemetery moved to Lovrinac, while the area of the little peninsula was transformed into a park. The destruction of the nineteenth century cemetery is still held by many as one of the great culturocides of modern Split.

Didn't get any pics of the road on the way up or down as I was too busy concentrating on driving as the road is sketchy AF.

23km of singletrack road normally with a sheer drop on one side. Turns out it's a two-way road - which is fun when you're in a hire car you don't know, and you have to reverse it to the edge to let another car get past.

I'm not lying when I say both my wife and daughter cried tears of relief when we got to the top.

Excellent Mike, I photographed on last Friday but quite a bit further away then you managed. I hadn't seen one in years.

Very nice wildlife style capture Alby, with some good detail even at that range.

Vulture shot with the RX10 iv.

I'll make sure I word this carefully. (In the past I've forgotten the second negative and created a very controversial post.)

There is nothing to not like about that shot. IMHO.

I love the black against the white. I love the detail. I love the expression. Cracking.

Glad you approve Kell. (y)

I've moved from DSLR to some small compacts. TZ95 for the range and LX100 for a bit more quality. I'm thinking of a high end bridge as I do like not having to mess about with lenses. I've come across the RX10 as I've been researching, but not seen any images as good as these. Had a look at your Flickr. You have some seriously stunning shots with this camera. Not just the quality of the camera but great composition as well. I think your stream on Flickr has me sold on the RX10

Like you Mike, l fell out of love with removable lens cameras, l much prefer bridge cameras and the rx10 is a fine camera for sure. I use the rx10 iv, the rx100vii and I’m amazed at the results you can get from them.

Have taken the plunge and bought an RX10iii. Decided I'd like the extra reach of the Mk3
On its way from Germany will put up some images when I get it

Congrat's on that Mike, their an extremely good unit. "Enjoy".

Nice!
Is this just with the camera lens at 600 or do you use an attachment. Not really done any digging into macro yet but came across some adds that suggest you can get an add on lens?
You can get add-on dioptre/close-up lenses that come in a variety of strengths from 1 dioptre through to 8 or more. A dioptre is defined as the focal length of the lens divided into 1000 so a 2 dioptre lens will have a focal length of 500mm. The simplest are single glass elements which can be prone to various optical aberrations so those with two or more elements, known as achromats, are preferable. They also come in a wide variety of filter threads so it's best to get one that matches your camera lens's filter thread if possible. All these add-on lenses actually do is reduce the prime lens's minimum focal distance.
