Hi,

I'd like to ask your honest opinion about my website, I'm not quite sure what I am doing wrong.

When I look on google analytics I can see an average time on site of only 53 seconds and a bounce rate of 75%

I've been wondering what could be wrong, tried various things but they didn't make a difference. Do you think that my pictures are not up to scratch, the layout is wrong is there anything else I'm missing?

Thanks

Nico

With Trading Standards spending more and more time on the television warning people about trading with businesses who do not publish the information they are legally required to do, you may find it eve more difficult to get those conversions you want.

Where is your registered office address? You also need to mention whether you are VAT registered, and as you are offering services you need to provide your terms in accordance with Distance Selling Regulations.

Thanks, Airscene - did have my registered address on there, but then had to change it and didn't update the website - slap wrists - the info is in the contact section now - still working on the T&C's - thanks for your feedback!

1. call to action - non existant
2. front page image 1 - does not hit you between the eyes
3. menu color same as font color making navigation awkward
4. front page lacks focus. with in 3 seconds they need to know who you are and what you are about
5. on my wifes laptop, you need to scroll down to get to the slideshow image thumbs, and scroll back up for the menu

Sorry to sound so cutting but one word comes to mind

" Bland "

You have some fantastic images on your site. I've had a look around and the photography is good.

1st thing you see though is your NB photographer header and it looks, well err, um, err ............................

I's have a rethink and make it more appealing to the eye. Remeber Eye candy is what catches your attention.

Much like eating a meal with your eyes first you need the same feel to your site.

Oh and ditch the grey, it's a depressing colour :(

Honestly the colours are dull and the images on the frontpage slideshow thing aren't something most people would want to buy, it just looks like a flickr account rather than a selection of saleable images

over all it looks a bit bodged together and unprofessional

OK... Have had another look... The grey is fine for me (but then my site's grey as well :p)

What's the intention of the site? To get wedding and portrait bookings I guess?

If that's the case, have wedding and portrait images on there, and have another site for everything else, and make it more eyecatching for people :)

Thanks for the suggestions so far - I think I'll move the portraits section to the home page, I think a lack of focus on the home page and lack of call to action are good points. This would also address the random collection of photographs on the homepage, I think. Logo re-design - yes, I should do that but have got advertising in local newspaper at the moment and would like to make sure people don't get confused by different logos. I think Matt - you're right - I'll just concentrate on the portraits and wedding sections.
Looks like it's back to the drawing board for me...

Out of interest, have you had much work from your site? The reason I ask is there's nothing on show that, to me at least, would seem worthy of a £110 (plus travelling expenses) hourly rate.......

Graham - No - I didn't - I arrived at the £110 per hour charge because it is below what a company I used to work for paid their freelance photographers. This company promised me freelance work which never really happened.
