Hi,

I've been taking pictures with my little point and shoot for a while now and I've just taken the plunge and ordered a Pentax K10D. Hopefully I can get lot's of great advice from this forum, there appears to be a wealth of knowledge I can tap into. I enjoy it immensely and I've had enough encouragement (and permission to spend from the GF) that I can't wait to take my photography to the next level.

I shall stick a few pictures up from my point and shoot days once I've sussed out how. Look forward to hearing your comments and participating in these forums.

Cheers,
Mark Morb

Reply to my own post.....

I've uploaded a few pictures into the members gallery....all taken a point and shoot. Just taken delivery of my K10D though so can't wait to see what happens now...apart from becoming poorer obviously :|

Hi Mark:wave:

Welcome. I've had my K10D for a couple weeks now and think its ace, I can recommend a good book to go along with it, the manual only really tells you how to get to each setting which is great if you are an existing DSLR user but a newbie like me requires something a little more in-depth.

The book is "Magic Lantern Guides, Pentax K10D" I've had it a couple days and already learned loads.

There will obviously be other good books out there but this one i can recommend.

Hi Mark,
Welcome. I'm a newbie here too.

Hi and welcome Mark:wave:

Hello :)

Experiment with aperture priority and even manual modes as you will learn quicker than letting 'auto' set the camera for you.

Thanks for the welcome guys....

Doozie - Believe it or not I already have that book on order (and a camera bag and some filters, etc.) glad to hear that it's a good resource.

RobertP - I'll be doing plenty of experimenting, just need to find the time now
