Hi im Alex from cardiff in wales new to photography and looking for my first dslr camera to start to get in to it (any advice would be welcome).

Will you buy 2nd hand kit?

Folk tend to be very brand loyal and will recommend the brand they use.
All brands are very capable performers.

Go to a shop and handle the cameras. Getting one you like the feel of really makes a difference.
 
I agree- too many m,akes & models to give any creative advise- get a few in your hand and then make an informed decision

my budget is about £400-£500 for the camera ive looked at the nikon d3100 which seemed good for the money and looked at a few reviews on it and they all seem good but think im guna have to get in to a camera shop and have a feel of a few like you guys said
