Hi all,
I have just registered on this site having heard about it from a photographer I have recently met in my locality and who has been kind enough to offer and give me advice which will hopefully improve my knowledge and skill in this fascinating hobby.
I have always been interested in nature and wildlife and have painted many watercolours of birds, mamals , insects , and plants over the years but I have only taken up photography in the last 18 months and hope eventually to combine the two hobbies or thats the plan!
Well, thats me and I hope eventually to be able to join in and perhaps add something of interest to what looks a very good site.

Do you use white gold in your processing rather than silver?

Does your leprosy cause you problems with using cameras?

Welcome, there's more than a few Lord Foul's on here!

Thanks EdBray.
Nice to meet a fellow visitor to 'The land' !
Fortunately my inability to get the camera to do my bidding is more down to being all fingers and thumbs rather than the lack thereof and if I could invoke the power of the white gold then who knows what the outcome might be !
Hopefully I will be able to post some results either way eventually.

Cracking user name matey. Love the complete set of books, which I can only assume you have read. Best set of books ever.

Thanks John,
I have just started reading them yet again but I must say that I can still remember the frustration I felt not being able to get in there and shake Thomas into believing in himself the first time I read 'Lord Foul's Bane' - the mark of a good book I reckon !

Many people I have recommended the set to have not got further than the 1st part of the 1st book - due to Thomas' behavior. They then think... how can this chap, who does those things, possibly be a major part of a double trilogy.

Of those who do get past the 1st part of the 1st book, well they love it. As did I.

Welcome, John.

Have you tried early David Eddings, before he started endlessly recycling the same plots and characters?

The Belgariad set of 5 books was brilliant!

Thanks again for the welcome guys.
Yep, loved Eddings Belgariad series and also Philip Jose Farmer's 'Riverworld' as I loved the idea of them all part of a futuristic experiment and the start of the first Matrix film when Neo wakes up in that huge area of people all connected to the machine made me think of this series of books.
I really got into Raymond Feist's 'Magician' books and found the 'Saga of the exiles' by Julian May entertaining.
For a short entertaining read I could recommend 'Hothouse' by Brian Aldiss if you havn't picked it up yet and I fancy you can see where some of the idea's for the excellent Avatar film came from there !
I started reading this stuff fairly late on as earlier I painted Sci-Fi and Fantasy pictures for pleasure and I have been blessed ( though sometimes cursed ! ) with a vivid imagination which fired my own creations without the help of the written word.
But these take so long to do and I've now found photography to fuel my other passion of wildlife and nature painting - and its much quicker.
I need to work out how to put pictures on this site if you can advise me please
as the only other place I have any examples is 'Photoradar' and I've never used
Flikcr (?) or the like ?
Would be interesting to get some constructive critisism and help to get better photographic results.

Hey Thomas welcome, nice to see a fellow artist here would be cool to see some of your work.

Thanks shadow82 and as soon as I work out how then hope to oblige you.
As far as I can tell the easiest way to upload material is into your own gallery but correct me if I'm wrong someone please.
Unfortunately computers and I are not good bed partners as I was not born of the age where a silicone chip implant was part of the deal at conception and it seems young people have now the ability to interface directly with the things.
My next problem is that my files are too big even as jpegs so need to reduce them somehow in Photoshop Elements or Photofiltre which are the two editing suites I use ( or abuse perhaps ).
