Have signed up here so I can learn how to use my Fuji S8000 properly and get the most out of it.

I've started reading the tutorials but can anyone point me to a good thread for noobs who know nothing apart from how to set it to auto?! :)

hi and welcome, if I woz you I would keep the camera on Auto to get used to using it in different conditions, if you the look at the exif (the information embedded in the picture data) produced by the camera you will see what settings work for what conditions, then try to change settings a little in shutter or aperture priority mode. remember you can shoot loads of shots it will not cost you any more and it is great fun learning from your mistakes.

Thanks for the advice :)

I've been using it in auto for a year now and I've not been that impressed with it, especially with indoor shots. Changing to the programmed settings for sports, landscapes, snow, fireworks and so on is abit better.

I've started playing with the aperture settings last night and good some better results indoors. I'm trying to get the blurred background effect like I've seen on some photos but didn't have much luck.

I will have a search of the forum though :)

Greetings friend and welcome.
