Just thought I'd say hello. I'm just turning the knob on my camera past the Auto setting for the first time and a friend said this ws an excellent starting point for tips, so here I am 
I'll be around a fair bit but when it comes to forums I'm very much a reader more than a poster but I'll do my best to have some input
