Hey all :)

I am the biggest beginner ever. Dont know much, hence the reason I am here to learn. I love taking photos, so i thought i might take it to the next level. I have a 450D Canon and really, the only thing that i know how to use on that is the automatic so i can shoot. Really want to start messing around with the camera so i can learn how to use it and get some great shots out of it. I will post what i have so far soon and i would love some feedback. :)

Welcome to TP, Leanne

The 450 is a great camera to get to know the basics of photography. I know, *** that's what I started out this crazy hobby with :bonk:

To help you get off the A setting, take a look at the basics section and read up on the wealth of knowledge that's in there.

As you say, post up some pics in the relevant section and get some instant(ish) feedback. It's the best way to improve.

Happy snapping and let's see some pics

Thanks Nigel :)

I have to start the long process of reading everything. But I already have posted up two photos to start with. I have seen some amazing photos on this site and all i can say is wow! I cant wait to now take so many more and one day hopefully be as good.

Hi, and welcome. I'm new to the world of cameras too, about two months in so far, and this place is full of great info, practice and perseverance will get you on the right path.

I started off in full auto but soon found out better can be achieved in semi auto or manual.
Best thing I did to learn my camera was to buy a few beers one evening, stick it manual and just take pictures of anything around the house and try figure what settings did what. I confess I have a long way to go, but every trip out things get better. ( I think ) :D

Have fun.

Hi Leanne and welcome to TP. Your starting with a good camera to learn with, its ideal. As has been said, read the various articles and get a good idea of what the setting are for, in particular try to get a grip about what shutter speeds and different apertures do, once you get the basic idea of that, the rest will start to fall in line. Here's a good site that will help you to get to grip with the effect of different settings link

The best way though is to play with your camera, try different settings, and just enjoy it. Good luck and I look forward to seeing some pics from you

Thank you all for the welcome :)
What a great little community you all have here. I am starting to enjoy TP and have not got off since i joined earlier today. Thank you for the link Trev. I have started playing around with the settings on my camera. Think it will take a while for me to get use to it all. So many things to remember.
While i am learning i am sitting down with a Gin and soda too Martin and i only a few! lol
