Hello everybody.

Like most others I have been using cameras most of my life, but I am far from having the theoretical background and knowledge which some of my friends have.

I take pictures to remember interesting things I have seen, like places, lighting conditions, moods, or people. I often take pictures outdoors, and of course of my kids.

I wanted to improve my technical possibilities a bit and maybe get a better lens than a compact camera can offer, and in the process I got seriously carried away and after some erring, bought a D600.

So here I am, with a nice camera (and a sensor cleaning kit ;-) ), not really knowing too much theory and hoping to take nice pictures based on gut feeling and a bit of theoretical knowledge. I don't want to forget where I am just because I'm so absorbed by setting up the camera optimally ;-) but I hope to read interesting hints and tips on how to take better pictures for the purposes I use the camera for.

A friend has shown me many interesting aspects which I was not aware of which can help improve images, and I hope to find more of this here.
