I'm a newbie in here and this is my first post.

I've got a Nikon D300 with an 18-70 lens. It's around 2 yrs old now but since I started getting into photography more & more, my desires for the need for speed is growing. Because I love to work with natural light, I feel that the
D300 doesn't quite cut the mustard.

Should I opt for a brand new D700 or settle for a secondhand D3? The other reason why I've opted for these two models is because they are both full frame cameras.

don't get the 2nd hand D3, the brandnew D700 if you can afford is just great :)

Think about buying a faster lens before going ff

I'm really rather new to photography, but as above I'd imagine an upgrade of your lens/es may prove to be a better move than the camera itself :)

Post an example of what you mean

In what lighting conditions / subject matter are you struggling?

I rarley shoot above ISO 400, and I rarley shoot at F2.8 or lower, even if the lenses can manage it

It might be you need to think in another dimension (e.g. use a reflector)

I would say get better lenses before upgrading the body, you could always get FF lenses so that when you do upgrade your camera body to FF it will save some money :)
