Hi there all, My names Sarah and I live in Surrey. I've had my D40 for over a year now and have taken some wonderful shots of friends and family, pets and landscapes. I love just taking my camera on a walk in the countryside and seeing what I come back with. I have always just used the preset and auto settings and would love to move on and understand all the ins and outs of photography, to improve my photos. So I hope you don't mind lots of questions being fired at you all!!

at a time

dont race ahead...set for P first and then see if you can understand why the numbers change with the exposures you are trying to capture

next stage is understanding the effectiveness of aperture relative to apparent sharpness..and the attendant change in speeds required to keep the shot in correct exposure..

lots of the menu stuff you can wait to use...i have looked through mine and dont really see me using it a lot...maybe spot metering only
