I've decided I want to have a go at some landscape photography and to have a play with some filters,mainly a 10 stop.
But I have know clue as to what exactly I will need though so any help would be great.

I will be using a d700 and my widest lens just now is a 24-70,though I may go wider, so would like something that will suit a wider lens also.

I had been looking at the Nd master kit plus a 10 stop pro,what i don't understand is the holder system and if its best getting 85 or10mmm.
Also will i be better using slide in or screw in polariser.

You'll need the 100mm filters and you might want to get a 77mm wide angle adapter instead of the standard one other wise you'll get vignetting if you go wider.
Most people use a 105mm screw in polariser on an adapter ring on the front of the holder.

However most grads are 100x150, but standard NDs are 100x100, so don't get confused by that.

Hi Peter,
you will ideally need a holder, to hold the ND graduated filters which are typically 6x4inch or 150mmx100mm in dimensions.

The holder then mounts onto a metal ring which screws onto the front of the lens thread.

I would suggest since you are starting in landscape photography, perhaps the following filters would be useful for you (depending on what you shoot)

a ND 0.9 Graduated filter (Hard Edge)
a ND 0.6 Graduated Filter (Soft Edge)
a ND 0.6 Graduated Filter (Hard Edge)
a ND 0.9 3 stop ND filter

A rotating polariser too to mount on the front of the holder

If you are starting up and this is the way I did it personally, I invested in a Lee Filter Holder system (i.e the plastic holder and a 77mm UWA metal filter holder ring) my filters originally were from hitech but I have moved over to Lee filters.

I bought the Lee Foundation Kit, the 77mm wide angle adaptor ring and then some Hitech 100x150 ND graduated filters. These are good for UWA on full frame and work beautifully with my 17-40. Not cheap but worth it.
 
One thing with the hitech filters is they do suffer from colour casting when stacked unfortunately, but what you pay for you get good quality filters with excellent support.

The Lee filters do not colour cast when stacked.

Thanks guys. I had rules out Lee as I thought they were a lot more expensive and I'm not sure how much use they will get.Im really wanting them for my trip to china in october,other than that I'm not sure how often I will use them.

So with the grads being a different size to standard ND's will they both fit the same holder

Hi Peter,
Yes the holder will fit the ND graduated and the ND filter no problem, correct that is something what you need on ebay
