Hi peeps!!!..

Hi folks, Im Paul im an engineer from Manchester. i have always been interested in photography in general but never had the chance to really 'have a go' and be creative.
I am a total novice, only ever using a basic digital camera but even with that i try and make my pictures say something or try to give them life so to speak. i just cant get the quality pictures you can with an SLR!!
I am looking to build myself up an SLR kit but as i know very little, as to what things do what or such like, its all very much trial and error at the moment!!

I am looking for a budget dslr that will let me expand in the future..at the moment i am looking at the Sony dslr a300 i have read numerous reviews and all look good but first hand knowledge is allways better than a shop assistant so if there is anything that you folks could recomend for about the same price im all ears...
As this is a totaly new venture for me i am trying to learn as i go so all help will be much appreciated!!

Hello Paul and welcome to the forum.

The alpha 300 is my back-up (to the bigger 700 which isn't so comfortable to hold, and I have big hands!). I use it for ground shots and shooting from the hip, also street pics. I like the pivotting liveview and the in-camera steady-shot is useful too. Going a bit OT here....welcome
