The application form asks for details of equipment owned. I felt a bit of a fraud as i kept entering NONE.
Actually i do own a lens, a 1;4 converter, and one monopod.
One pristine F series 200-400 f4
I gave up stills photography when digital arrived and apart from frequent use of a small camcorder i had no interest in returning to full frame. Its just amazing how a 1/2.5inch sensor expands onto a 55inch tv screen. With the massive drop in the cost of second hand F lenses. i made my lens purchase. Now for a camera. The camera choice would have been a D850 as recomended by a user. Then i discovered the existence of mirrorless cameras ( yes, i was in a time warp).I now am leaning toward a Z6II due to its fast focusing. Endless funds not being available, i have no intention on climbing further up the Z series chain.....and of course i also have to purchase the Nikon FTZ adaptor. My hobie is video filming water sport these days, and so it seems that this camera should be suitable. I have read so much that my head is spinning. I have no wish to use a tripod, just a monopod, especially when videoing surfers. Do any of you readers care to share your experience with this lens camera setup. tyia.

Welcome, and I know there is at least one keen surfy photographer on the site - can't recall who it is off hand though

Red robin did surfer pics but he might have given up now

Welcome Michel - I'm afraid surfing and ultra-long telephoto pics are outside my experience.

Welcome!

The only surfing shots I've done have been of kite surfing, and only got relatively close during some very cold championships right back in April 2012

Both of these were taken from the beach with a 100-300 f4 lens on APSC (Pentax K7)

I've shot more of other watersports but surprising little given my location is by the sea,

and one with a longer lens (150-500)

The sailing shots I have are much more sedate here's one from the Maldon Regatta using a 200mm lens on MFT (for 400mm equivalent FOV)

and an infra red shot with a 600mm mirror lens on MFT (1200mm FOV)

Any of your proposed bodies should be more suitable, being faster to focus, higher resolution & less prone to noise. You may often want a longer lens, but I guess that depends very much on your position.;)

I have little experience with Nikon, their only body I have is the little J1 which has a few limitations for my use. My Pentax K5ii, Sony A7ii, Panasonic G5 & GF2 bodies all get much more use even the tiny Pentax Q models probably do...

I very rarely shoot video, having shot more of it by mistake than deliberately!
