Hi everyone, I'm Michael, Mich for short. I've been hanging out in the IRC channel for a number of months and finally decided to actually make an account on the website.
I've lived in Southampton, Hampshire for little over a year. Before that, I lived with my mother in Belgium, in the countryside. Needless to say, city life is still pretty new to me. I do find that there are plenty of opportunities for photography all around though, so I'm happy about that.
I got into photography as a hobby a couple of years back, when my buddy, on IRC known as "loans" sold me his old Nikon Coolpix 8700. Around the start of 2012 I actually bought my first DSLR through ebay, the classic D40. Been having a lot of fun with it.
I'm a fan of photographing urban stuff like trains, docks and just general public places in the city. I have an affinity for tall metal poles like power line poles and antenna poles. I also like playing with long exposures and generally like going out to snap pictures when it's dark out.
I've got a Flickr account which I've recently updated with some of my better photos from 2012.
