Just a brief introduction from me; I've had a DSSLR for about 2 years but havn't used it that much. I've recently got the photography bug again and joined my local amateur club.

I'm really enjoying different types of photography I tried my first sports shoot at the weekend and I want to learn photoshop etc. I used to have a darkroom in my teens and all the digital stuff re photoshop seems so different.

I look forward to speaking to lots of other users and learning something along the way.

You're not alone in desperately trying to untangle the mysteries of PS!

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing some of your work.

Welcome to TP, I'm to originally from Birkenheadthe Wirral. I was also lost for were to start when I started out with CS5 about a year ago, although I'm flying now....

I've probably learned a few years worth in 12 months as a result of 4-6 hours a day on it.

It does seem like a huge learning curve to start, but the trick is to look at it for what it is, which is a collection of individual tools. Ask yourself why you wanted it in the first place, is there a specific task, sharpening, blurring or blemish removal, maybe it was to put a subject or item into another image.... Whatever it is, concentrate on that one one thing, don't try and run before you can walk so to speak. You'll find all you need to know on youtube, some of it is crap and some of it is great, that's how I taught myself and have never looked back. I have spent several hundreds of hours on there to learn all I know, you should give yourself a good couple of hours a day. And if you want a helping hand, you can try a few plugins. CS5 is also split into categories, so you'll want Photography (top right) there you'll find only what you need....

Hope this helps, Mark.
