Hi,

I'm an amateur photographer, mostly into shooting arty architecture, odd stuff and landscapes. I will occasionally do people.

Started off getting into it as the option part of a college course, learnt basic composition, developing and processing B&W, took a City & Guilds course, using a borrowed Pentax from my dad. Got my own Minolta X700 many years later, plus some lenses. But used it too much, as the shutter failed. Then got a Minolta Dynax 404si, which I didn't like as much.

Finally made the move to digital with a Nikon D40, bought the extra lens, and many filters by Cokin. Great move, made lots of progress with my photography.

Just joined to get ideas, seek constructive criticism, and if it goes well, figure out how to sell!

Oh, and I don't use windows, so do all my editing with open source tools (no Photoshop here)

Looking forward to getting some pics online so you can let me know :D

:welcome: to TP richrock. Just like you I started out with a Minolta SRT101 & did some C & G Photo Courses. No Photoshop here neither, I'm tinkering around with Serif Photoplus at the moment. Just to be different I've gone down the Canon route with digital.
Anyway, get some of your pics posted

Have you seen the forecast for the next few days? A lot of people have been out praying all their heart's out to get the sun to show ... and finally I can say it's almost as sunny as Saudi Arabia :woot::woot::woot: while still being a bit cool.

Sunny as Saudi, now thats pushing it a bit. I'd accept Some where on the continent, but Saudi?

Yeah, it's not as sunny as Saudi .. especially at night where it seems the sun is still out in Saudi (hear me say hot hot hot); but it has been nice here in South Wales these past few days and the next few days are forecast to be great too :)
