Hi folks, just joined this week after my window cleaner mentioned the site.
I've just got into photography earlier this year, started with a Canon 1000D before moving onto the 500D. Just trying to get out as much as possible and finding my muse as it were! Appreciate any tips, hints, etc. Look forward to getting some more photos on here and getting some constructive comments.

Biggest tip I can give? Suck in as much of this web forum as you can and post pictures for crit.

Welcome. I pop over to Tamworth when I can for model shoots at Ariane Studios. If that sort of thing ever interests you I can recommend them. If memory serves you have Image Red over there as well so remarkably well served for studios compared to where I am!

Have you bought the 500D yet? Is it much better than the 1000D?

Hi, yeah, I've had the 500D for a month or so now. Apart from the addition of HD video, the main thing is the difference in the pic quality, I guess simply down to being 15MP rather than 10.2MP. I was going to have the 450D but thought I'd splash the extra few quid to go for this one.

Was 10MP not enough? How about a the 1D that so many people on here seem to have that is only 8MP? Is the 500D better quality than them?
