Hi guys, I took delivery of my canon 550d on Wednesday.

It's a fantastic camera compared to my Canon Powershot S80 which I was never really happy with.

After reading some reviews about HDEW Cameras I decided to put my trust in them and decided to order from them. I'm really glad I did as the service has been absolutely fantastic and I got it at a great price compared to everywhere else, plus a 3 year warranty which gets fixed in the UK if anything does go wrong.

I ordered over the phone and my calls were answered very quickly and they dealt with me in a very friendly and professional manner. I placed my order on Friday and it arrived on Wednesday which I thought was pretty good.

I know it sounds a bit like an advert for them but I like to give credit where credit is due.

Anyway, now starts the massive task of learning to use the camera as I am a complete novice, but I'm looking forward to learning and getting some good shots. I just need a nice 50mm lens.

Another Sheffield lad here :)

The 'nifty fifty' is a great little lens and so cheap too, definately reccomended! I had one on my 50D and loved it, sold it now though as I went for a Sigma 30mm 1.4 - a decision I may regret seen as I'm now wanting to get into 'people' photography.

Cheers mate, I'll keep my eyes on that one. I've just registered on the Jessops business site so I'm waiting to see if they come up with a killer deal on one.

I got the 18-55mm lens with it but I bought it with the idea of getting the nifty fifty as well.

Hello, I'm in Doncaster so quite near you all. I just sold my 550d as I couldn't get on with it and have gone back to Nikon. How are you finding it?
 
Hi, rick and welcome.
Lens wise you carn't go wrong with the nifty fifty its a gem of a lens for the price, but if your looking for a nice walkabout and general lens, have a look into the Tamron 17-50 2.8 non VC, i used to have one on my 40d and they are super sharp and a great price, pick them up cheap off here but you can get brand new for £260 from amazon, but you'll find them cheaper, good luck with the 550d and enjoy :thumbs:
