Hi,

New to the forum and photography as a whole.

I was getting bored with the holiday type snaps I'd been taking and wanted something with a bit more of a challenge. Currently with a Panasonic G3 + kit 14mm-42mm but considering whether thats going to be suitable going forward. I think for now it'll do while I learn more about the basics and composition rather than splashing out on new equipment.

So thing I want to learn first :
  • Better composition
  • Understanding the different 'modes' on the camera and how to access them easily and use them correctly
  • Post processing (I was in Northumberland recently for a holiday and took some very poor night photos in RAW but have no idea if or how they could be improved in PP)
I'm already starting to look at things differently from a photo point of view but unfortunately I'm probably one of the most un-artistic people you're likely to meet. I am however looking forward to improving.

I'll apologies in advance for all the dumb things I'm likely to ask or say.

Duncan

Hi Duncan and a warm welcome to TP.
Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Sounds like a plan providing you can put up with a complete beginner.

Plenty to learn then! I'm off up to the peaks Sunday looking for waterfalls with my boy
