Been a member for a while now, thought I would introduce myself.

My first camera was a pinhole box camera, had no settings whatsoever, took a reel of 120 film, looked and probably was home made. Still have some pics taken with it

Lost interest in photography late 80's, moved here some 10 years later, and rediscovered photography some 10 years later. Hoping to make at least a part time income, have recently sold some work and pleased to come runner up in my first entry to a local photographic competition - waiting to see whether the chosen entrry was taken with my Fuji S5pro, which may be an old camera, but as said elsewhere what matters is that you are happy with your camera (if only it had a faster burst rate - when I showed interest in this camera I was told it was reserved, the intending purchaser was interested in airshows, for some reason he ended up with a Nikon d200)

Plan an upgrade next year, comments made on various cameras have been noted, something to think over during the winter months

Use the same ID on Photocamel and one reason why I have been slow to upload pics is because I have been used to that site's ability to post images direct from computer to thread

Hi Ken, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy".

Hi Ken, enjoy the forum :)

Hi Ken and welcome to the forums, the Fuji is a great camera despite its age.

thanks for all your comments. I have done it in part in order to raise my profile. I use Zazzle mand one person asked why he wasn't getting any sales. Well, if you've posted something three years ago and expect the world to beat a path to your door now.....

I'll probably post this somewhere else, but I often see questions on "what settings do I use for this & that"

I was redcently advised to ditch all the auto and semi auto settings and use M mode by default (but usually retain AF to make it clear). then you will know from experience what settings produce a certain effect. And this inspires confidence that, under similar lighting conditions, you will recreate the same effect in subsequent shots

The Fuji s5pro doesn't have an auto setting, just A M S & P
