I live in Banks near Southport Lancs. Signed up some time ago but have only just started posting. Just a beginners question: How do I post a thread on the Home page?

You can only post in the listed sub forums using the same process that you used to post in the Welcome forum.

I notice a number of posts appear on the home page when I first open - is this a note of recent posts and would they appear specifically in the appropriate sub forums initially.

Correct - the home page has something like 8 of the "latest posts" from the talk and critique areas of the forum.
