Hey there,

Joined here from the recommendation from someone else on POTN. It's always weird joining new forums as the new guy, much like your first day at school lol.
I'm 36, from Glasgow in Scotland, and have been in photography for about 2 years now. I'd say I try a lot of different things but wildlife is my passion.
Getting out in the wilderness, walking about hunting things down and photographing them is a perfect day to me.

Currently using a Canon 7D and up till today a 70-200 2.8L IS MKII. Sold it today due to it being too short on the long end and too long on the short for a crop. Going for a Canon 400mm f/5.6L USM for more close encounters of the BIF kind. Although finding one used is becoming a worry.

Anywho, I'll give a wee link to my Flickr account as it's the one I use the most these days :) Flickr

I am quite blessed with staying where I do in Glasgow. Right out of the city in a place called Lennoxtown. It's right on the edge of some of the most perfect scenery I've seen in my life. Filled with great landscapes, wildlife and the occasional drunken wandering soul :)

Cheers for reading,

Paul

Hi Paul and nice to see you over this side of the pond and welcome.:)

I shall look forward to seeing more of your superb images, particularly when you get the 400. You did say that you were moving on from the 7D, anymore thoughts on that?

Hi Paul and welcome to TP, you have some cracking shots on yur flickr. Love the Chaffinch in flight shot.

Thanks folks :) Chaffinch shots were really big crops and I got lucky really. I did swither on swapping my 7D for a 1D MKIII but felt that I did have a great camera, I just needed to spend more hours with it. Only had it for 9 months. Longer reach was essential to me so I've gone and ordered the 400mm 5.6L today. I Was using a 70-200 2.8L MKII but it wasn't long enough for me and an awful expense to use as a walk about street lens.

Welcome to TP Paul - Glad that you found us. You sure have some great images on your Flickr site.

I look forward to seeing you around

Welcome & hello from Hong Kong!

Ok so I don't actually live here but work out here and commute to the uk ;)

This has been a great forum since I joined exactly a year ago and like you I've 'just' acquired a 70-200 2.8 but the mk1. Looking forward to trying it out soon

Happy Christmas
