Hello all,

I'm Vish, looking to get into some proper photography and learn the ropes from the basics and onwards.

Currently looking to purchase a "beginner" DSLR, not sure which make or model to go for yet, have been looking mainly at Nikon and Cannon, also not sure if I should purchase a used camera body and a new lens?
Please leave me your recommendations to help me with my first camera purchase.

The camera will be used by myself and also my sister who has recently started a new business and could do with learning to take more professional pictures for advertising/promo needs.

cheers!

Hi Vish, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy".

Hi Vish and welcome to TP - There's loads of information on the forum for people starting out and the different camera's out there. Good luck with your choice!

Look forward to seeing you around

Hi and welcome to the forums, personally I would buy a second hand beginners kit, you wilt quickly learn and want to upgrade so pointless spending a lot on new kit.

Hi,

any models you would recommend? Looking to spend around £300 for a used one.

Nikon D5000 or Canon EOS600D both very good cameras for a beginner.

As above welcome to TP Vish, hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Lots of useful help, advice and tips on here, don't be afraid to ask questions, plenty of helpful bods here ...

Re which body - if you have a look through the equipment section there are lots of body discussions there which may give you some help.

Best advice I can give is to try them out yourself and see which feels the nicer to you to use, which menu system feels the best, which buttons are in the most logical place for you etc etc. Do you have any family or friends that use cameras - which do they use, do you like them etc...

If you set down a list of things you want it to do, would like to do etc and go from there, also don't forget your budget and a lens is also needed, along with a memory card etc.

If you have any more specific questions, pop a question up in the equipment section and you should get plenty of helpful replies :)

Thanks,

will be checking out a few choices of cameras this weekend, can't wait to get started.
