Been lurking here for a few weeks having previously spent most of my time on another photo forum (yes there are others! :) ) But this seems a friendly place so I hope to stick around and contribute. Keen on the comps you run too. Couple of things about me then. I've been into photography for 20+ years so I'm pretty ancient. Only been doing digital for a couple of years and have recently upgraded to a 5D (complete with dirty sensor) and some L glass. I live between Leeds and Bradford although I'm not a true northerner (been in t'north for 15 years and it grows on you!) so up for any north of Watford meets. During the day I'm doing mostsly web and print work and a limited amount of photography and video work - which means I enjoy my job :clap:

BTW, I refuse to believe that scurrilous rumour about there being other forums. That kind of talk gets you carted off to the asylum doncha know :p

As for the comp, we've just started taking submissions for Round 3 ("Motion"). Last time for submission is 31st October at 23:59 :)

Between Leeds and Bradford are we talking Birkenshaw way?

I'm up in Clayton Heights, just down from Qyeensbury, in Bradford. It gets very cold in winter.

No further north - Guiseley to be precise. Home of Harry Ramsden's and not a lot else!

Ahhh guiseley,

My cousins used to play for the Guiseley Gremlins footy team before they moved off to Austrailia.

Went to Harry Ramsdens a few months ago for the first time and wasn't overly impressed. I did Harrys Challenge and found it quite easy :(

Bigger fish in Filey :D

I've only been once as well -15 years ago! Best fish and chips are in Scarborough in my experience.
 
I havent been to Scarborough for a few years either. Might have to see about going in close season sometime now its quiet. And cold.

Last time we went, the sea was really rough and they closed the front - we were parked at the left hand side of it and decided it would be cool to drive out the long way by going all the way to the other side, that was fun. BIIIIIIIIIIIIG waves.
