Hi,
I've been lurking for a little while and decided that if I was going to join a photography forum, this would be the one!
Buying a camera was just a way of getting me out of the house, but as time goes by, I'm finding myself more and more drawn into the whole photography thing.
Having lived in London all my life, starting in Greenwich but now in Chelsea, I tend to snap all over the city as no matter how well I think I know it, there's always something new to see.
I currently own a Lumix LX5 (only the second camera I've ever owned) and am looking to buy a Nikon D5100 in the new year as I'm beginning to feel that my compact, although a decent one, is holding me back. The nice thing about the compact is that it goes everywhere with me. But I do need a DSLR.
Despite slowly getting to grips with shooting in manual mode, I have so much to learn and hope I can learn something here.
Linux is my OS of choice and know my way around GIMP, but Darktable is proving something of a challenge and I don't shoot enough RAW to work with and really understand it.
A sample image? Taken on South Bank, it was wet and windy, no tripod. Here...
