Hey there,
Been wanting to try my hand at photography for a couple of years now, but never taken the plunge into getting a god camera.
So finally decided to go with it, and im currently looking at getting myself either a canon 40d or 450d :)

Im a complete novice at it all, and im finding all the talk about lens sizes and f stops really confusing :bonk:
Could someone recommend me some good reading material that would explain the basics to me a bit more, though I will probably pick it up much faster when iv actually got a camera in my hands :)

Looks like a great forum you guys have got here, and I look forward to contributing hopefully in the near future

thanks for the quick reply Andy

I will check out that book. Yah im sure its the same as everything, at outsider looking in at something will find it a foreign language. A bit of practice and im sure il start to pick it up.
Just had a flick (excuse the pun :) ) through your flickr, some impressive shots, liking the yellow flower.

Hi  and :welcome: to TP.

I have to say, you can find just about all you want in this forum. Have a look at the Tutorials & Guides sub-forums and you will find plenty to get you up to speed.

In the event you find yourself stuck, just post a question in the appropriate sub-forum and you will get a barrage of helpful feedback .. sometimes with some wicked humour

Do stick around, and hope you enjoy your time.
