Hi campers ... should I have told them?

They are not campers unless that is a new towing tent I have never seen before.

Nope, you are right, they are worse, they are CARAVANERS! :exit:

except as I get old, I have this yen for a caravan...well a motorhome actually, but I can't help it, I have hit middle age, it gets you like that :shake:

:plusone: Make mine a split screen veedub and I'll hit the hippy trail with you :D

As long as the other corners are supported, I can't see the problem even if those cracked bricks fall to pieces. However, If I saw the owners, I would point the potential difficulty out to them but I wouldn't knock on the door to tell them.

Like Yv, I get the occasional urge to try a decent sized camper van (and any veedub would be a no-no for me!) but at upwards of 100,000 for the size I'd like, I doubt I'll have one this year!

That wont cause any problems at all. It's only a corner steady. Used to stop the van rocking when pitched.
And yes I am a caravanner! Love every minute of it. Anyone who slags it usually haven't tried it or looked in a new van.
It's the best way a family can spend quality time together.

Lets see some more outfits! Been done before, but..... :D

Indeed! I love it too, although I have a motorhome  I think they had used the corner steady to jack up that side of the van as it was on quite a bit of a slope! ... Actually I only noticed this after they had spent about three hours trying to work out how the awning could be put together! ...... newbies ... bless em :D

Oh, how I remember people getting their chairs out to watch us put up our awning for the first time!
That's 13 years ago now. It's up in a shot now. (the awning that is. ;) :D)

Just come back from 2 weeks in the New Forest. Temp down there was on average 24c, get home and its around 17c.
Kids love it and it beats packing away a soggy tent.
Thing is, we want to change it for a fixed bed now, so been looking at the new Bailey Pegasus vans. very nice inside and light regards MTPLM for towing.

And using a fully serviced pitch was a godsend this time, no water hog to fill or waste water to empty. Just the toilet to sort out.

I agree. I always try to use super pitches. I've just had 3 weeks in France using one. Makes life much easier.

Bring it on. I've got broad shoulders. :D I have mates that slagged caravans off for years. Ridiculed me at every opportunity. Until they popped over to a site I was staying at and had a bbq with us.
They just couldn't believe the spec of new vans and how much fun you can have. The social side is great.

Boats seem to be the latest craze i was in spain last week and this year there were more than ever in the Andtrax area. Would you class a boat as the same sort of thing

Also anyone follow any celebs on twitter or anything that were on a boat called "4 aces" last week (http://www.yachtworldcharters.com/2009/12/inside-scoop-on-four-aces/) at nearly 1/4 a million a week would be interesting to see who was on it.

5 star hotel > all - To me anyway :p

We do that also. But as nice as it is being pampered and staying in wonderful surroundings, you're still sleeping in someone elses bedding. you still have to be at breakfast by a certain time and you still have to be out of the room/suite by a certain time for the cleaners to come in.
Don't get me wrong, I love staying in nice hotels and am doing so in a couple of weeks. But the pure freedom of caravanning is unbeatable. :)
