Hi - I've registered partly because I want to add a brief comment to a thread, this is a very busy place and an impressive line-up of members. I edit Master Photography, the MPA's magazine, and write some technical product/review features for the British Journal. We also still run what is left of the old Minolta Club of GB, under the photoclubalpha website and Photoworld magazine names, without approval or support - once a official user club, now just a thorn in the side 
I do use Sony Alpha equipment, and not entirely for commercial reasons - given my budgets and the type of photography I do the Alpha 900 would almost certainly have been a choice anyway. I also use Nikon, though it's down to just a D5000 with 18-105mm partly for the video function, and partly as an ideal lightweight small cam to keep available.
