Hi folks,

Newbie here and popping in to say hello.

I'm very new to photography, bought my first camera around 2 months ago. Had a few shots of my father in laws old Nikon D200 in the summer which gave me the bug.

I bought a Nikon D3500 with the 18-55mm kit lens. Looking to buy another kind of all round lens and was looking at the Nikon 18-300mm....quite pricey though so need to do some saving!

Hopefully get some of my shots up on here and also looking forward to learning some tips.

Catch you all soon

Welcome to the forum Craig, enjoy yourself here :welcome:

Hi and welcome to TP

Photography is a journey not a destination and though not a Nikon user (used have Canon for years but switched to Olympus) there are many here at TP

But one observation I would offer, IMO zoom lenses with a focal length range of 18-300mm are trying to be a "Jack of all Trades but master of none".

Therefore rather than getting your second lens that covers the range of your current 18-55mm short zoom. I suggest you consider a companion zoom perhaps covering 70-300mm.

I hope you enjoy your new camera & the lifelong learning curve that photography can be and I look forward to seeing any images to post here at TP to share etc

Hi,

Yeah this is a good point. I was thinking the 18-300 to avoid carrying 2 lenses all the time but I suppose its not like they are big lenses so easy enough to carry. I'll look into the 70-33mm instead, Thanks!!

Hi Craig, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy"
