Hi, new here and just finding my way around... I have had an interest in photography for several years now,but after a serious woodworking accident I can no longer press the shutter button on my camera... I will be looking for ways round this, and with your help I will find the right remote shutter release equipment to put me back behind the lens...

Hi Geoff and welcome aboard.

We're a friendly bunch, so get comfortable and make yourself at home.
Plenty of helpers around in the Talk Equipment section to advise on shutter releases and the like - hopefully you'll be back behind the camera in no time at all.

Hi and welcome Geoff, sorry about your unfortunate accident but there are several alternatives. I obviously don't know the full extent of your disability but a few suggestions would be

1. Corded release which would allow use in either hand

2. Radio triggers (as a above but wireless) you can spend as little as a few pounds on ebay for cheap chinese triggers (these work fine i have a pair) to hundreds of pounds for original manufacturer specific units.

3. An app for ipad/iphone Or android smartphone, i use triggertrap which requires a dongle that is connected to the camera and then can be triggered by the phone. The big bonus with this method is that for very little outlay you not only have a remote trigger but a superb array of triggering systems including,
Intervalometer
Sound trigger
Vibration trigger
Motion trigger
Distance trigger
Long exposure hdr
Star trail
Bulb tamping
Wi Fi slave

And more.

All for about £25

Good luck with a solution.

Thanks for the welcome and advise... It's early days yet (still having surgery) It does look though as if I will need a trigger of some sort to release the shutter... I will carry on reading all the posts, and see if anything comes up... Once I know the true extent of the damage I can be more explicit regards my needs...:thankyou:
