Hi,
Just bought a cANON 450D,about 3 months ago and have mainly just been using the standard setting on th camera, and i'm wanting to start and learn more about what the camera can do.
Thought the best way to do this would be to join a forum based photogrphy site,so here i am.
Any pointers and info would be great as at the moment i'm totally lost...

Thanks in advance

Hello
and may the force be with you :)
I am in Yorkshire too, using my other half (also a member here) gear :D and learning new skills.
I hope you will enjoy!

Hi, Iz,
Ha Ha, ref the Force:lol:
Thanks for the welcome ,yeah just thought i'd see if i could get a few pointers on here of some people who will know there stuff..
Totally new to this digital photo stuff, just had the normal point n shoot camera's and the camera on my Nokia N95  lol..
Just want to start learning about the other settings..:)

My opinion, read your manual first, and photography mags are good inc basic camera skills.
Digital Photo is my fav.

Take plenty of pics, archive them in folders a sensible way, and read read read on here.
Use the search to search convo's already had on whatever subject you wish.
Good luck and i'm from Yorkshire too.

Type yorskire airlines into youtube and watch Hale n Pace - its class if you've not seen it.

welcome scott a good starting point is to set your camera to aperture priority
the f stop controls the size of the lens opening i.e.aperture.
select a stationary subject i.e.a tree then a waterfall.
use f16 f8 f4 on both tree and waterfall then compare the results.
probably meet you when im larking about.
