I'm Stu, 23. I'm a Manc living in Edinburgh who is dying to learn more about photography and the techniques. I bought a Nikon D40 back in October but got lazy about it before I'd even picked it up properly.
I'm planning a 4 week trip around Japan in Sept and want to establish a good basic set of photography skills before then. As a motivator, I sold my D40 and got a 450D with Canon's 18-55mm IS Kit lens, Canon 50mm f1.8 and Tokina 11-16mm.
My favourite photography subjects are night and cityscapes (esp at night). I've had one night so far out in Edinburgh tryingto get a good photo of the city (using the kit lens which was the only one I had at the time). It was an ok photo (its on my Flickr) but the cheapness of my Jessops tripod was evident so I'm awaiting my new Manfrotto 055X to arrive
Although I did learn a bit about shutter speed and aperture that night so it wasn't anywhere near a loss 
I also can't wait to get back to Manchester for the first time since picking the camera up. Its got a fantastic range of buildings around these days.
