Hi, well im an active BMX (1980's) collector and ive been looking for a decent DSLR etc, so ive asked this question on bmx forums then it dawned on me to do the same thing on a photo' site :bonk:

What I need is something in the £400 (may stretch) SLR that I can take great indoor and out door shots, shutter lag is very important, cant be done with all that,, I used to get better results with my old Zenith E when I was 14 Im using at the moment as a point and shoot a Panasonic TZ8 which is great for holidays etc, but just need that bit extra. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Fog.

All the makers of DSLR's produce cameras that can take super pictures.

I am in the Nikon stable and am sure the D3200 and D5100 could be good buys within your budget.

I'll leave users of the other brands to make recommendations (be warned - folk tend to be biased towards the brand they use)

Standard advice is to go into a shop and see how the various model feels in your hands. It does help if the camera feels comfortable to hold. For example I cannot do with small camera bodies, but others do not like large bodies. Horses for courses.
