Hi, well im an active BMX (1980's) collector and ive been looking for a decent DSLR etc, so ive asked this question on bmx forums then it dawned on me to do the same thing on a photo' site :bonk:

What I need is something in the £400 (may stretch) SLR that I can take great indoor and out door shots, shutter lag is very important, cant be done with all that,, I used to get better results with my old Zenith E when I was 14  Im using at the moment as a point and shoot a Panasonic TZ8 which is great for holidays etc, but just need that bit extra. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Fog.:)

All the makers of DSLR's produce cameras that can take super pictures.

I am in the Nikon stable and am sure the D3200 and D5100 could be good buys within your budget.

I'll leave users of the other brands to make recommendations (be warned - folk tend to be biased towards the brand they use)

Standard advice is to go into a shop and see how the various model feels in your hands. It does help if the camera feels comfortable to hold. For example I cannot do with small camera bodies, but others do not like large bodies. Horses for courses.
