Hi all, just starting to get into "photography", my girlfriend is a graphic designer, and I am a car enthusiast, so was to our attention to buy a camera, after months on end we purchased a "Canon 500D" which arrived today, totaly satisfied so far however I have a lot to learn; so many options & settings to get the know off! :lol: Couple of beginner pictures I took today below;

well you've learnt one thing already

DOF Depth of Field

the lens has various apertures - you selected f4

see how the DOF is narrow in that the ''L'' [of Lets] is OOF Out Of Focus

as is the bottom of the pencil

and the top left and bottom right of the page

to 'increase' DOF select a smaller aperture eg f16

of course you now need a slower shutter speed or a higher ISO to balance the exposure

bitch innit.....:D
 
yeah! It's all a lot harder than I thought, I have a Canon 50mm f1.8 Fast Prime Lens, which I find I have to be quite a bit back from the object to take the picture? Can you suggest any Len's which would benefit me, I have a feeling its slightly advanced?

Well what is it you will be wanting to take pic of and what's your budget?
 
In all honesty the main focus for me is cars, budget im not too sure, i am really new to this, so unsure on what prices to expect?
