Hi, all. As the title says, I'm a new photographer (I just got my camera on New Year's Eve). I've been lurking around the TP forum for a while (either directly browsing or being led here by searches for pieces of information). I'm hoping to be able to get some more direct feedback from the excellent members here and try and absorb as much as I can.
I can't really describe very well how I got into photography. I've always had some slight sense of appreciation for what must have gone into taking the stunning shots I'd seen over the years, but I'd never really been that interested in the mechanics and aesthetics of photography. Then, late last year I just got bitten by the bug and started looking at lots of different sources for more information. I was checking out camera/lens review websites, forums like this, tutorial videos and anything else I could get my hands on.
After a few months of looking for the right camera for my interests and budget I went for the Canon 650D with the 18-135mm STM kit lens. So far I've taken a few thousand varied shots (ranging from indoor macro-type, family dinners, daytime landscapes, nighttime landscapes, timelapses, star & night photography and last weekend my first 'action' photography at a motorsport autotest event). So far I've taken a few shots that I'm reasonably happy with, but I know that I've just started out on a long road and I'm not getting too far ahead of myself.
So, to sum it all up: I'm a new photographer who's eager to learn more and hoping to get some feedback from anyone who can spare the time
Here are some of the shots I'm happiest with so far:
