This is my first post here,i've been following this forum for about a year now, mainly reading the nature sections plus the technical side. I shoot canon. As a side note we also erm keep dartfrogs ,so a bit of marcro features in our picture taking. Since a child i've always had a profound fascination with nature.... widlife especially and also paint wildlife. so for a good time my camera has bee a reference tool to me. Over the last year or so i have become ever more serious trying to raise my skill set and trying to aquire some better tools to take wildlife pictures with. I have gone the glass route first so now have a 300f2.8 is (the earlier version) and a 2x extender(sometimes),mounted to my trusty little 550D. I'm closing down saving wise on a new body, but will save that discussion for a later post as it might be deemed out of place here. I guess all these years of wanting to be around nature have given me a huge head start in the field craft side of things I seem to have a knack for getting close,ha but my pictures don't yet reflect this, much work to be done.

take care all

Stu

Hey George ,Jak,thanks for the warm welcome. Jak we are both intrigued by your HDR images, they look so much like a technique used in art that I know as pen and ink. Cool macro shots too buddy, much for me to learn there from you. Most of my froggy pics are really just grab shots, for fora. Sure I do try to work on some higher quality at times with the tripod etc,but it's an area that at some stage i'd really like to dig into. Hmm, i'm incredibly fortunate to have a room of these jewels at my beck and call as photographic subjects, maybe from a tog's point of view I take that aspect for granted.

Hey Steve, thank you good sir!! I've been lurking here a while ,but hugely appreciate you taking the time, your post will be incredibly useful to me. I'm already struggling to pop an avatar in for example, so, much gratitude for the above. Oh Steve we took the liberty of looking at some of your work on flickr,my darling Shaz simply stated "it's not good you looking at other folks pics ".'cuase I was raving about some of your landscapes:cool: Great creative eye Steve,it's pretty obvious you have put some time into this and much thought, inspiring stuff mate, genuinely. Steve i'm under no illusions as to my ability with a camera but do have huge aspriations to try and be better. I've looked at so so many images,I can only say that a few of those landscape shots evoke an emotional response ,if one day I could achieve that I'd feel I'd have done something!!

George I almost feel I left ya out bro, please don't read anything into that, just I have not been able to have a look at what you do yet tis all.

thanks folks

Stu

Hi Stu

Click on your avatar as it appears above
Then click on your avatar again in the pop up box
Then click on it again in your profile and you can amend it there...

There may well be a different / better / quicker way, but this is pretty easy :)
