Someone has been placing adverts to sell (cars?) using my credit card details in autotrader :( even had my security code.

I can't for the life of me think where they might have got those details unless it's online somewhere.

What a bummer, :( luckilly you found out, hope it didn't cost you too much and the credit card co. gives you a refund, / wipes the debt

Do you have kids?
Remember the government lost all those financial details a couple of weeks ago, we got a letter from HMRC saying that ours were among the missing :(

Also, have you had anyone call you from your bank and giving you your details but asking for the CVV as confirmation?

you have told the card company, already, already?

I've just sold my motah, last night, thanks to an autotrader ad.

Don't tell me I used the wrong card :(

:coat:

lol@2blue4u, it was a debit card, now blocked. No kids (thankully) and I'll get the cash back eventually, mind you I could do without losing £176 quid just before christmas even if I will get it back.

Worrying. Petrol stations have proven to be where a lot of details are nicked. Restaurants are another. Just don't let anyone nip out of the room or out of your sight with your card. Hope you get it sorted Steep.

On slightly differant note, I punched my pin details into BP station card reader recently and it said "pin blocked" I  for a bit then felt slightly :$
And muttered, well it worked yesterday
Never mind love said the assistant I will run it through again but you will have to sign "for it" this time
No problem I said

Chip and PIN is supposed to be secure I beleive? :D
She had no idea that I hadn't nicked the card did she?

I phoned the Credit card company PDQ and got another PIN just in case

Chip and pin is better than nothing but it's far from secure since it depends on the honesty of the retailer.
I'm confident it will be sorted, the charges (4 identical ones) were placed either by phone or online at 11:30 am 2 days ago. At that time I was driving to Thurso to meet another engineer.
