hHELP - maybe charged with a crime I did not commit

He does not have to prove where his equipment was, phone, sat nav, computer, he has to prove where he wasn't. He wasn't at Sainsburys filling up and driving off without paying.

20 years ago in kendal Cumbria I was asked out of the blue to go in a line up and paid £5 pounds for the 10 mins, we all lined up and signed for our money, then this guy came in long hair, scruffy, handcuffed to a copper, I had a number 1 hair cut and was dressed smartly shirt and pants,, others where similar to me, he had been accused of the same thing except he had been picked up in the offending car, the women walk along the line and picked out a guy next to me, the wrong one.

No CCTV but this happened in the morning and we had the line up in the afternoon.

Good luck Merc

No he doesn't. John doesn't have to prove anything. It's up to the Police to prove in court that he was the person that committed the crime.

can't believe I've only just seen this thread! I managed to get the gist of what happened within the first few posts but was in stitches at how long it took some of you

Anyway John, like someone said earlier.. it's situations like this that decent people worry about... the bums and reprobates wouldn't give a toss if they were accused of something.

try to move on and put it to one side... i honestly believe you have nothing to worry about.

well, two good things today

1...a cheque from HMR&C for a 2009/10 Tax rebate......

but more relevant

2... the first hire today was a criminal lawyer going into Glasgow
had 30 mins 'free' advice about the situation....:D

as most of you said here........... his opinion was it would be binned by police or binned by The office of Procurator Fiscal

so - feeling better about this ....thanks.........

And he won't be kidding either!

i'd be inclined to settle the £70 with a baseball bat in the pump attendants knees, but then again I grew up in Hackney! lol

In Hackney or the back of a hackney:D

Dont think Hackneys went to our area back then! :p

Scotland or outer Mongolia, you can not be charge with theft because someone said it look like you .........They need proof!
I have not read all the replys but this is spot on. They can report you for theft but the CPS will look at it an see there is clearly no evidence and say no thank you.

The Procurator Physical might though :D

........................Don't be surprised if you hear no more about this - cops can be very thoughtless about contacting people after the event has passed, especially when they're involved in other things.

well 10 days have passed since the first visit

not heard a bloody thing.........:shake:

either you are all right, and they're dropping it

or preparing my cell in the Tower of London...

The Procurator Physical might though :D

do you mean
''procurator fiscal (pl. procurators fiscal) is a public prosecutor in Scotland''

Freudian slip......:lol::lol:

Is that like a malapropism ?

John I hope this all get sorted and goes away.

I got suspended for gross industrial misconduct 3 months ago for something I didn't do, that made me ill enough. Sadly the outcome was not very good even though I kept my job and the suspension lifted.

Haha yes, Powell Road, could hardly get closer!

I remember when it was nice there, as a nipper used to go with my mum and feed the ducks on the pond.

Bet those poor old ducks are long gone too, probably ended up on the plate of an eastern european or down the local chinky
An old mate goes fishing in the canal down Lea Bridge Road near the Prince(ss) Of Wales and he saw eastern europeans catching fish and cooking them on the towpath to eat
Him and a few others told them to clear off in no uncertain terms, daresay they just moved downstream a bit though

You mean there is actually fish in that canal ?

Steve

Some quite decent sized ones actually, hard to believe I agree, think Perch are the favoured catch to eat species.

If the fishing is lousy can always go for a pint of Youngs or walk up the towpath towards Clapton for a pint of Fullers
