Hi people. I have just got my first camera a cannon 1100d. I have just been practicing the last 2 month getting the hang of the settings and editing in photoshop. I'll be mainly taking photos of cars/Motorsport so I'm after a better lens but I haven't made my mind up what one yet!

Is there many from around this area?

I'll post some pictures up soon.

Welcome to the forums :) plenty on here from your neck of the woods...though they tend to be Geordie, but you can't hold that against them.

I lived in Sunderland for 3 years (at uni) so know it well, oddly though I have no photos of the place!

Ah right cool! What did you study there? Can you recommend some decent photo spots?

I really need to get out and about with my camera!

I did Media Production.

As for photo spots personally I would love to get some shots of any of the old docks (if any bits remain now)...the area around the Wearmouth Bridge can look good at dusk, but has been done lots before. The winter gardens could give some interesting shots too.

Thinking now I do have some shots of the area - Penshaw Monument at sunset is always good http://www.jimmylemon.co.uk/blog/index.php?showimage=97 & http://www.jimmylemon.co.uk/blog/index.php?showimage=98. The airshow is always good for a variety of shots too. I tend to come back with more people shots, than planes, because of the amazing variety of people there.

I want to get back to the Quayside in Gateshead/Newcastle sometime soon too, that is always good for some long exposures at dusk - http://www.jimmylemon.co.uk/blog/index.php?showimage=27

Yeah there's some strange people get down there.

I was the quayside not long ago with a local car forum meet. I didn't have my camera then but there was some great pics taken by others.

If your up here anytime let me know I'd like to see someone with skills like you taking photos. I may be able to learn somthing :P

You are not totally alone......at least one or two other Mackems here, though we're quite rare :)

Thanks for all the welcomes :)

I took my camera to work today hoping when I finished I'd be able to get some light trail shots but it was really foggy so I couldn't :( i might have a drive out tomorrow get some photos.
